white\">~*~<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">I\u2019ve made &#8212; and eaten &#8212; all kinds of cookies over the years, but my personal favorites, as many of you may already know, are chocolate chip cookies.\u00a0 My mom baked them on a regular basis when I was growing up.\u00a0 Later, when I had children of my own and we all went north to visit my folks in Oregon, Mom made sure the cookie jar was full.\u00a0 As soon as the car was in park, we\u2019d stampede into the house and head for the kitchen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1075\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.tyndale.com\/crazy4fiction\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/12\/cookies-769x1024.jpg\" alt=\"cookies\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Now, I make chocolate cookies once a week for our Tuesday evening Bible study.\u00a0 So far, no one has complained about having the same snack each week.\u00a0 I use the same recipe my mom used (from the back of the yellow Nestle\u2019s Chocolate Chip bag), but I\u2019ve added my own personal touch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\" align=\"center\"><u><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">RECIPE<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">2 sticks (1 cup) of salted butter (softened on a window sill \u2013 not a microwave)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">1 tablespoon of pure vanilla<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">\u00be cup of white granulated sugar<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">\u00be cup brown sugar (pressed down firmly so that it comes out in a \u00be cup lump!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">2 large eggs<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;margin: 12pt 0in;text-align: center;background: white\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Put the above ingredients together and mix with a wooden spoon until creamy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">2 and \u00bc cups of Golden Medal flour<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">1 teaspoon salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">1 teaspoon baking soda<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Pour flour on top of the creamy mixture, sprinkle salt and baking soda on top of the flour and then mix everything together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Add chocolate chips.\u00a0 I usually buy those big bags from Costco, cup both hands together and add two \u201cscoops\u201d to the dough.\u00a0 \u00a0In other words, don\u2019t be stingy with the chips!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Add Heath Bar toffee chips.\u00a0 I cup one hand and fill my palm with these chips and sprinkle them over the dough, then stir everything together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">I bake the cookies on stoneware (Pampered Chef) at 345 degrees until golden brown around the edges. \u00a0\u00a0(If they\u2019re golden brown in the center, you\u2019ve burned them.) \u00a0I\u2019ve learned there are lots of people like me who prefer their cookies slightly UNDER cooked.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s a throwback to our childhood when we wanted to eat the dough before Mom pushed the cookie sheets into the oven!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Once baked, leave the cookies on the stone, allow them to\u201crelax\u201d and cool before you move them onto a cooling rack.\u00a0 You must be warned.\u00a0 If you remove them too soon, the cookies will be very gooey and then you will just have to eat them all yourself because they won\u2019t look pretty enough to put on a plate for company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;background: white;margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.5pt;font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;color: #1c0732\">Last step:\u00a0 pour a nice tall glass of cold milk and take a cookie break!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 13.5pt;margin: 12pt
