As we look forward to a promising new year and all the blessings that are to come, it is important to reflect on all that God has done for us as 2015 draws to a close. Sometimes, it is easy to follow His path but often times, we question where He may be leading us only to end up somewhere more wonderful than we could have ever desired. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As believers, we all ask questions of the Lord. Author Francine Rivers uses these questions as the seeds in which to grow all of her stories. Read below as Francine takes us through the questions she asked of God as she prepared to begin a new story.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">~*~<\/p>\n<p>Almost every story I have written since becoming a Christian has come from a question that regards a struggle in my own faith walk.\u00a0\u00a0 The plot centers around the different ways that question can be answered by \u201cthe world\u201d \u2013 but the quest is to find God\u2019s answer.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of my novels with the questions that started each story:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A Voice in the Wind<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0 How do I share my faith with unsaved family members and friends who have no desire to read the Bible or hear me talk about my faith?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>An Echo in the Darkness<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0 How many times are we called upon to forgive people who hurt us deliberately &#8212; and (in many countries) would like to see us dead?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>As Sure As the Dawn<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 How do you deal with anger \u2013 especially when there is \u201cgood\u201d cause?\u00a0 What is \u201crighteous anger\u201d and how does it look?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Scarlet Thread<\/em>:\u00a0<\/strong> What does \u201csovereignty\u201d mean in man\u2019s relationship with God?\u00a0 If He is in control of everything, what does that say about the bad things that happen to people?<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Atonement Child<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0 Is there complete forgiveness and restoration for a woman who has aborted her child?\u00a0 Does abortion have any effect on the woman and the man involved in the crisis pregnancy? \u00a0Does it impact people around them?\u00a0 (This was my most painful and personal book because I needed to face and deal with my own abortion experience.\u00a0 The character of Hannah is based on my story; Evie is based on my mother\u2019s.)<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Last Sin Eater<\/em>:\u00a0<\/strong> What is the difference between guilt and conviction?\u00a0 This book came out of\u00a0<em>The Atonement Child<\/em>.\u00a0 What I learned:\u00a0 guilt kept me imprisoned for years.\u00a0 Conviction sent me to my knees before the Lord where I received forgiveness and experienced His love and grace.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Leota\u2019s Garden<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Are abortion and euthanasia connected?\u00a0 Is euthanasia merciful or an act of murder?\u00a0 This novel also came out of my work on The Atonement Child.\u00a0 While studying the abortion issue from all sides, I realized the arguments for abortion are exactly the same as those for euthanasia.\u00a0 While going through a post-abortion class with other women (one a nurse), I learned that the elderly are already at risk. \u00a0\u00a0One scene in the book continues to shock people.\u00a0 I wrote it for that purpose.\u00a0 I want people to understand life is precious.\u00a0 The movement toward legalizing euthanasia continues to gain momentum (and has less to do with \u201cmercy\u201d than saving money for care).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>And the Shofar Blew<\/em>:<\/strong> What is a church?\u00a0 How do you build it?\u00a0 During my travels around the country and speaking at various churches, I saw many struggling through building projects and massive programs to draw more parishioners. \u00a0Size of building and number of people in the pews seemed to define success or failure. \u00a0Like a government out of control, the \u201cchurch\u201d (in many cases) has forgotten its foundation and purpose.\u00a0 \u00a0Christ is the cornerstone.\u00a0\u00a0 Believers meet together to study the Word of God, worship Him and encourage one another \u2013 and keep their doors and hearts open to those seeking God.\u00a0 Unfortunately, too many congregations have left their first love (Jesus Christ) and turned to idolatry (placing a building\/drawing a crowd\/being \u201cpolitically correct\u201d above a relationship with the Lord).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Her Mother\u2019s Hope<\/em>\u00a0\/\u00a0<em>Her Daughter\u2019s Dream<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0 What caused the rift between my grandmother and mother?\u00a0\u00a0 When my grandmother had a stroke, my mother raced from Oregon to the Central Valley of California to be with her.\u00a0 Grandma died before she arrived.\u00a0 My mother was heart-broken and said, \u201cI think she willed herself to die just so we wouldn\u2019t have to talk things out.\u201d\u00a0 I have wondered since:\u00a0 What causes people (even Christians) to hold grudges?\u00a0\u00a0 What might have brought resolution and restoration to these two women?\u00a0 Could my grandmother have loved my mother without my mother understanding it?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">~*~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1083\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.tyndale.com\/crazy4fiction\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/12\/Jeremiah-29.11-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"Jeremiah-29.11\" width=\"676\" height=\"676\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Happy New Year!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy New Year\u2019s Eve, readers!
